The 18th Annual Southeastern Regional Equipment Operator’s Safety and Training Conference (also known as the ‘ROADEO’) will be hosted by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 31 – September 2, 2021. Contestants from each participating state will compete in six categories in the operation of heavy equipment. The purpose of the event is to promote skill advancement for employees whose jobs require the operation of heavy equipment, to increase the safety awareness level of employees working in or around work zones, to increase employee morale and value, to strengthen the presence of team spirit and teamwork and to recognize the best equipment operators in a friendly, competitive atmosphere. Aside from the competition, operators are required to attend the conference issued safety training session designed to target safe operations and increasing safety awareness in and around the work zone and traveling public.

Don’t miss out on the streets that never sleep when you visit the vibrant city of New Orleans. New Orleans is home of the NFL Saints, the NBA Pelicans, the birthplace of jazz and let’s not forget, Mardi Gras! People come from all over the nation to taste the unique blends of the best flavors in the South. Don’t forget while you’re here to visit the National WWII Museum, take a riverboat cruise down the mighty Mississippi River, take a horse and carriage ride through the French Quarter and don’t forget to end the night at Café’ Du Monde’ for some coffee and beignets! Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler! (That’s Cajun for “Let the Good Times Roll!)”
